Description

Riva Gambert, EBIJFF and Under One Tent Director, will explore three themes relating to Hollywood and the Jews:

The Disappearing Jew – How Jewish characters disappeared from the silver screen making American Jewry almost invisible while anti-Semitism rose in the US during the same time period.

G.I. Hollywood – The Hollywood moguls were at rst hesitant to “screen up” about The Third Reich. But behind the scenes, there were Jews who secretly investigated Nazi agents in Los Angeles.

In the Shadow of the Cold War – Despite the increasing knowledge about the Holocaust, few films were
made about it during the immediately post-WWII period. Soon, the HUAC investigations shook Hollywood leadership, destroying many careers and impacting what was seen on the Big Screen.
