Description

Two by Four: Under One Tent Book Discussion

Four sessions, two books, one amazing series. Join us for in-depth explorations of two outstanding books, each of which deals with a different slant on the 1930’s and 40’s.

In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler’s Berlin

1933, Berlin. William E. Dodd, America’s first ambassador to Hitler’s Third Reich, is first entranced by the “New Germany.” But his opinion changes as anti-Semitism alarmingly rises, the press is censored and new legislation is enacted. Although it reads like a novel, Erik Lawson’s book is an incredibly readable work of non-fiction.

Facilitator: Under One Tent Director Riva Gambert.

Attendance is limited to 25 people so RSVP early to underonetent@hotmail.com.

Suggested donation at the door: $5.

Sponsors: Contra Costa JCC and Cong. B’nai Shalom.
