    Yukio Shimomura will share his family’s experience during World War ll and the impact of Executive Order 9066 on their life. From San Francisco to the incarceration camps in San Bruno to Delta, Utah, the lifestyle and dynamics in the camp, the significant ironies and challenges faced by his parents, his brothers and himself. 110,000 people incarcerated, 110,000 stories, this is a snapshot of one family. The presentation features 60+ slides.

    "Mesibaba" is a program for 2nd to 7th graders at Congregation B’nai Tikvah, and delivers a fun social afternoon on Thursdays from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. This year, our themes include Noah’s Escape the Flood Game (Oct 25), Hanukkah Extravaganza (Nov 29), Jewish Chef (Feb 7), Passover Minute to Win It (Apr 11) & Lag Ba’omer BBQ (May 16). All Mesibaba events include gaga, crafts, activities and a dinner.

    100 fun, brain-challenging questions to twist your mind and test your wits. Everything’s on the table: movies, music, current events, history, pop culture, sports, cooking, geography and television. Team entry fee includes hors d’oeuvres and snacks; beer, wine, soft drinks and bottled water; dessert; coffee and tea. Dinner is not provided but you can bring your own.

  10. LIBRARY SHABBAT WITH AUTHOR ERNIE GLASER

    Lectures & Book Talks / 120 mins
    In this uplifting memoir, member and author Ernie Glaser takes the reader from his being a teen-ager making a last minute escape from Nazi Germany to Shanghai (where he lived in a ghetto under Japanese rule) and finally to his “Horatio Alger” story in the United States. Glaser’s personal odyssey is as relevant today as it was in the 1930’s when his family crossed half of the globe-seeking asylum.
